Guitar
By setting clear weekly goals and personalized practice strategies, a student can conquer challenging barriers to get his or her playing to the next level. Therefor, the program strongly emphasizes on ‘how to practice’.
It is important that the student creates a habit of practicing and learns how to work individually, on a regular basis outside the music classroom.
As a teacher, I advocate individual classes as each student has a different learning curve, with a different background and different goals and expectations. It is for these reasons that I do not believe in a ‘one-fits-for-all’ method or book.
The guitar classes are designed to create a life long ‘skill’ where students learn how to read music and form a strong technical and musical basis to prepare for a studio performance, audition, entering exam or competition.
Ideally, a beginner guitar student starts at the age of 7 or later.

Piano
Our piano lessons are designed to meet the specific needs and goals of each student. This not only includes learning repertoires appropriate to the student’s level of proficiency but also theory, rhythmic development, technical exercises, sight-reading, and ear training.
In our piano classes, I adjust my teaching methods and curriculum according to the student’s learning pace. While acknowledging that there is a basic curriculum necessary for musical knowledge and growth, it is important to supplement musical genres based on each student’s preference and interest.
My teaching is through discovery learning, by asking questions and having students think on their own rather then give instructions and corrections. I strongly believe through multitude of performance opportunities is a wonderful way for students to advance in ability and confidence and a well-rounded approach to music education can foster students an enjoyment for music that lasts a lifetime.
I recommend 5-6 years as the earliest age to begin private piano lessons in order to maximize the learning experience.
